Further to our letter to the government dated August 28, 2020, we have provided a revised timeline for submitting our response to the minister of environment and climate change’s information request. The revised timeline incorporates feedback we have heard during our consultation with Indigenous groups and considers ongoing developments related to COVID-19.
Based on these important considerations, we now expect to submit the response to the minister’s information request in summer 2021. This timeline is subject to change based on further scoping of technical work, timelines for Indigenous consultation, and engagement with agencies. We are confident that the information provided to the minister will support a federal government decision.
With regard to the procurement schedule, we intend to issue the request for qualifications (RFQ) for a design-build contractor after government has approved the project.
We remain committed to doing what we can to make sure the project is built in time to support Canadian importers and exporters who rely on the Port of Vancouver to get their goods to and from Asian markets, while also balancing the importance of protecting the local environment and considering communities.
