Marine Shipping Supplemental Report Available

October 30th, 2015 6:25 pm

The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency has announced that the Marine Shipping Supplemental Report for the proposed Roberts Bank Terminal 2 Project is available to the public.

The Roberts Bank Terminal 2 Project Marine Shipping Supplemental Report was completed by Port Metro Vancouver in response to the updated EIS Guidelines provided by the Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency on April 17, 2015.

While the Environmental Impact Statement, submitted in March 2015, assessed the potential effects of marine shipping within Port Metro Vancouver’s jurisdiction, the Marine Shipping Supplemental Report assesses project-related shipping outside of Port Metro Vancouver’s jurisdiction to the 12 nautical mile limit of Canada’s territorial sea.

The conclusion of this work is that marine shipping associated with the Project is not expected to result in significant adverse residual effects to the valued components assessed. Given the conclusion in the EIS and the Marine Shipping Supplemental Report that the Project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects, and the benefits of the Project to British Columbia and Canada, Port Metro Vancouver believes the Project should be approved to proceed.

The Executive Summary of the Marine Shipping Supplemental Report can be found here.
